Wellbeing
At Hart Plain we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of all our pupils. We know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable, and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support.
We can offer various levels of support for all our children at the different times it may be required.
Our universal offer of support includes all aspects of our wellbeing curriculum. We teach the children how to recognise and strategies to improve their mental health both in the short and long term.
The Empowerment Approach - through our pro-social and pro-learning policy we are empowering our children to understand their brains and develop the ability to identify solutions to problems they encounter. Through understanding their 5C needs - comfortable, connected, capable, count, connected and control they are able to identify what is missing, what skill has not been developed yet and discover ways to seek these gaps in helpful ways. Please see our policy for further detail. Through making people feel better they can do better.
Through our PDL lessons children will be equipped with the self-regulation and social tools needed to be calm, confident, communicative and creative members of the community.
We believe children must understand how to take care of themselves both physically and mentally in order to be successful adults. Our PE curriculum wholly promotes health and fitness alongside emotional and physical wellbeing.
Our additional and targeted support is varied and encompasses a wide range of resources and outside agency support.
